Nickel mining in the Philippines will greatly benefit from the current global interest in electric vehicles (EVs), according to DMCI Mining Corp. But the company said the sector needs government support like subsidies and infrastructure to realize the full potential especially if battery manufacturing plants and ore processing facilities were to be setup in the country.

Horizonte Minerals (TSX: HZM) announced that it has entered into long-term power purchase agreements, thereby securing renewable power at a low cost for its 100%-owned Araguaia nickel project in Brazil, where construction is underway and production remains on track to commence in Q1 2024.

Azure Minerals (AZS) has recorded its highest grade nickel intersection to date at the Ridgeline deposit within the Andover project in Western Australia. The company holds 60 per cent of the project with Creasy Group, which holds the other 40 per cent.

Perth-based Aston Minerals (ASX: ASO) continues to report multiple nickel-cobalt intersections from drilling at its Bardwell prospect in Ontario. Results are still pending for six holes ahead of the maiden resource estimate, which is due to be delivered in mid-December, along with first estimates from Aston’s Edleston Main and Sirola gold prospects there.

Palladium One Mining Inc. is pleased to report additional assay results from the West Pickle massive sulphide discovery in Ontario, Canada. The Tyko Property hosts nickel, copper and cobalt, each of which has been designated a Critical Mineral. Geochemical assays have confirmed a significant gold intersection for Toro Energy about 80m north of where the company originally hit massive nickel sulphides at its Dusty project near Wiluna in WA.

Pacific Nickel has upgraded both the overall tonnage and grade of the resource at its Kolosori nickel project in the Solomon Islands as it moves to start DSO production in mid-2023. Resource at the project now stands at 7.08Mt grading 1.57% nickel at a 1.2% nickel cut-off, or 111,000t of contained nickel a 17% increase in total Mineral Resource tonnage

After a round of infill drilling Blackstone Minerals has confirmed high grades of up to 4.3 per cent nickel, 4.73 per cent copper and 18.2 grams per tonne platinum group elements, or “PGE” at the company’s Ta Khoa nickel project in Vietnam.

Results have been received for 9 of the 11 holes, confirming the presence of copper-nickel-PGE mineralisation at the Miki and Sortekap prospects as well as gold mineralisation in a previously unknown zone of quartz veins in Sortekap.

Resource at the project now stands at 7.08Mt grading 1.57% nickel at a 1.2% nickel cut-off, or 111,000t of contained nickel a 17% increase in total Mineral Resource tonnage and a 3% increase in grade from the previous estimate of 6.02Mt at 1.52% nickel. This equates to an approximate 20% increase in contained nickel.

Pricing
The prices of battery-grade nickel sulphate were 40,700-41,700 yuan/mt as of last Friday, an increase of 300 yuan/mt on the week. SMM battery-grade nickel sulphate price index stood at 40,948 yuan/mt as of last Friday, an increase of 213 yuan/mt on the week.

Investor Relations
Quebec Nickel Corp (CSE:QNI, OTCQB:QNICF) has said it is arranging a private placement for gross proceeds of up to C$10 million, with the offering to be led by EMD Financial Inc. The company said the offering includes up to C$5 million of units at a price of C$0.20 per unit, adding that the proceeds will be used for general working capital purposes.

A Hong Kong stock market debut puts Jakarta at the centre of China’s electric-car boom. Lygend Resources & Technology (2245.HK), a Chinese nickel trader, is looking to raise up to $594 million in an initial public offering to expand in Indonesia. The company’s presence in the resource-rich archipelago allows it to export copious quantities of the metal, which is in high demand back home.

Lygend Resources & Technology Co., a Chinese nickel producer and trader, wants to raise as much as $593 million in its Hong Kong initial public offering, becoming the latest company along the electric-vehicle supply chain to tap public markets in a lackluster year for debuts.

Korean battery maker SK On Co. said Friday it has signed an initial agreement with two battery component producers to build a facility in Indonesia to produce an intermediate nickel product for electric vehicle batteries to secure stable supply of the key material.
