NickelX chasing the next Julimar as it readies the drills at Dalwallinu critical minerals project

  • Program of works received for 1,700m RC drilling campaign at Dalwallinu
  • Augur driling has defined multiple high-priority Ni-Cu-PGE targets
  • The DEM1 and DEM2 targets have some of the highest PGE levels seen in the West Yilgarn

Special Report: RC drilling is set to commence at NickelX’s Dalwallinu nickel-copper-PGE project in WA’s West Yilgarn mining province after receiving approvals from mining authorities.

Explorer NickelX (ASX:NKL) is on the hunt for Julimar-style mineralisation where Chalice Mining (ASX:CHN) is developing its monster 560Mt Gonneville Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide deposit.

Studies indicate the hosting orebody of Gonneville in the West Yilgarn region has the potential to be the lowest-cost producer of PGEs in the Western world and a significant producer of nickel and copper to boot.

Dalwallinu covers 86km2 of the entire Barra Barra greenstone belt within the province and NKL has so far identified 12 priority targets over a 12km strike length at the underexplored terrane.

Mining to begin in search of the next Julimar

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has approved NKL’s program of works for a 1,700m RC drilling program which it plans to conduct with contractor Strike Drilling in December.

Assays from a recently completed infill auger drilling soil sampling program defined multiple high-priority geochemical anomalies over a combined ~12km strike length of folded strata at Dalwallinu.

The highest priority target assays – DEM1 and DEM2 – represent some of the highest PGE assays (73.7ppb Pt and Pd) the West Yilgarn has shown, as well as significant and coincident anomalous values of up to 466ppm Ni and 843ppm Cu.

Dalwallinu’s DEM2 high-priority geophysical target itself represents some of the strongest fixed loop electromagnetic responses seen in the region, with high conductance at shallow depths.

NickelX MD Matt Gauci says the team are very excited by the combined 12km of strike of geochemical anomalies recently defined, which confirms the significant prospectivity of the Dalwallinu project for Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation.

“This, combined with the recent drone magnetic survey and MLEM and FLEM survey results, has now identified numerous high-priority targets, prospective for Julimar type nickel-copper-PGE mineralisation.”
