Critical minerals and green beneficiation company Lifezone Holdings has completed an S-K 1300 technical report summary (TRS) estimating mineral resources of 40.4-million tonnes for its exploration-stage Kabanga nickel project in north-west Tanzania.

Post Courier Ramu Nickel project women landowners sign loan deal

Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals signed a mining concession agreement with British company Knights Bay to extract nickel and its derivatives with high purity. The agreement is to obtain a concession right in mining area No. 21, located in the Wilayat of Ibra in the North A’Sharqiyah governorate. It is the first mining agreement with a foreign investor.

COSOL Limited has announced a new strategic contract with Glencore’s 49%-owned Koniambo Nickel SAS (Koniambo) project in New Caledonia, worth an initial A$4 million ($2.7 million). The initial 12-month contract will contribute positively to the company’s 2023 financial year earnings, the company said.

Tesla and its affiliates have signed a $2.9-billion order for high-nickel cathode materials with South Korea’s L&F Company, according to an L&F regulatory filing. The contract runs for two years, from 1 Jan 2024 through 31 December 2025.

The Bank of England (BoE) has highlighted shortcomings in LME Clear’s actions relating to its suspension of clearing activities for nickel trades in March 2022 and deficiencies in its governance and risk management.

Huayou Cobalt plans to discuss with the London Metal Exchange (LME) the application to register the company’s nickel products as LME deliverable brand. According to SMM’s understanding, the current nickel plate produced by Huayou’s OEM in Shandong has met the LME delivery standards.

British mining junior Technology Minerals announced this week it has received the validation of 5 exploration permits in Cameroon.These permits, at least three of which are for cobalt and nickel, were acquired in 2021 following an agreement with Onshore Energy Limited.

A report from a leading data and analytics company, Mining Industry M&A Deals by Top Themes in 2022, divulged an increase in demand for metals like cobalt, nickel, and lithium.

MTM is up ~100% on volume since acquiring a Canadian rare earths-niobium exploration project called “Pomme” last week. It’s now cashed up to explore Pomme after raising $3m via placement at 10c per share, a small 4.8% discount to the last closing price on 23 February.

Affected by the news concerning NORNICKEL Nickel yesterday, the spot premiums and SHFE nickel prices fell sharply, and the intraday spot transactions showed an improvement. NPI traders got high in-plant stocks, and some were eager to dump their goods.

Bonded zone inventory of nickel dropped 1,000 mt to 5,600 mt WoW as of March 3, with the inventory of nickel briquettes and nickel plates standing at 1,470 mt and 4,130 mt respectively. Nickel plate inventory fell more in the week as the import window was still open and the spot transactions picked up slightly amid the dropping nickel prices.
